Alessandra Lezama named Most Admired CEO of the Year by the San Diego Business Journal
SAN DIEGO, June 13, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Alessandra Lezama, CEO of AbacusNext, the largest Technology-as-a-Service (TaaS) provider for the legal and accounting professions, took home the top prize at this year’s Most Admired CEO Awards, presented by the San Diego Business Journal.
One hundred CEOs were nominated in categories including non-profit, family owned, privately held and publicly traded organizations for their outstanding leadership and community involvement. Nearly 500 business leaders and guests gathered at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla for the award ceremony where Lezama earned the highest honor of the evening, Most Admired CEO of the Year, awarded to the nominee who received the highest overall score from the judges regardless of category.
“I’m humbled and deeply honored to be named CEO of the Year,” said Lezama. “I owe a debt of gratitude to my entire staff, my senior management team, and most importantly to our clients whose trust has made our success possible. I had big dreams when I joined AbacusNext, so I surrounded myself with the smartest people I knew, and together we’ve achieved more than anyone thought possible.”
Since Lezama became CEO five years ago, AbacusNext has grown from less than 30 employees to more than 500. Today, AbacusNext serves 1.5 million professionals worldwide across the legal, accounting, finance, banking, and public-sector markets.
“With her pioneering vision and leadership, Alessandra completely reengineered AbacusNext,” said Marco Ferrari, Chairman of the Board for AbacusNext. “She took us from a niche software developer focused on the legal profession, to a global technology leader that’s disrupting the Cloud Computing industry.”
Lezama is a veteran technology executive who has enjoyed a high impact career taking underperforming companies and turning them into scalable, high-performance powerhouses. She’s active in the local business community, including serving on the board of directors for the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce and is a passionate advocate for women and girls pursuing careers in STEM.
